Zimbabwe: “Mwonzora Is Just A Caretaker In Zanu-Pf Waiting Room”, Says Moyo After Chebundo’s Defection
Exiled former cabinet minister Professor Jonathan Moyo says Blessing Chebundo’s defection to ZANU PF proves that the MDC-T led by Douglas Mwonzora is merely a conduit for the ruling party.
Professor Moyo’s remarks come after Chebundo joined ZANU PF a few weeks after leaving the Nelson Chamisa-led MDC Alliance for the MDC-T. Moyo wrote on Twitter:
One day Blessing Chebundo is reported to have left the MDC-A to be in @DMwonzora’s MDC-T’; the next day he is reported to have left the MDC-T to join ZanuPF at State House.
It is now plain for all to see that @DMwonzora is just a caretaker in #ZanuPF’s WAITING ROOM, called MDC-T! … The Chebundo defection is not only pregnant, but it’s also unprecedented: he leaves Chamisa’s MDC-A to follow Mwonzora, ostensibly to the MDC-T, when that’s just a stopover en route to ZanuPF.
Chebundo and former MDC Alliance top official Lilian Timveos were on Wednesday welcomed by ZANU PF First Secretary and President Emmerson Mnangagwa at State House.
ßChebundo and Timveos defected to the ruling Zanu PF party citing a lack of direction and violent tendencies by Nelson Chamisa’s political outfit.
