The MDC- T has implored the government to ensure that adequate mechanics are put in place in order to safeguard the Covid-19 vaccines from being highjacked by powerful cartels.
In a statement after yesterday’s Standing Committee meeting held virtually, MDC-T spokesperson Witness Dube said:
The Party would like to encourage the Ministry of Health and Child Care to prioritise the health sector and other key sectors of our nation to receive the vaccine in a transparent manner.
… Further, as corruption has become endemic in our society, adequate mechanics must be put in place to ensure that unscrupulous cartels do not highjack the process for their selfish means.
The MDC-T also called for a national dialogue that is genuine, inclusive and unconditional and for social, political and economic reforms as well as electoral reforms, among them, the Diaspora Vote. The statement read further:
In that regard, the Party also noted that there were certain legal and procedural issues relating to the interpretation of the constitutive document relating to POLAD, (the Code of Conduct) that need to be looked at first as a matter of urgency so as to make dialogue easier and more inclusive.
