Bobi Wine Unveils Manifesto as Supporters Are Chased Out of Stadium


Tear gas rocked Mbarara City as Ugandan Presidential Candidate Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi’s supporters were chased out of Kakyeka stadium after they had converged for his manifesto launch which was scheduled for today.

The Ugandan Security agencies deployed heavily in the city since early morning as Candidate Kyagulanyi made his way to the venue. The security team dispersed the crowds claiming that they were more than the agreed number which was set up as a measure to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

The National Unity Platform party members continued with their mobilization which saw supporters crowd outside the stadium waiting for their candidate Bobi Wine who was not allowed to pass in the middle of the city but forced to use the bypass road to the venue.

The function kicked off with various traditional performances from the locals and speeches from a few party members. Candidate Kyagulanyi was given a traditional stool and spear as a symbol of power in Western Uganda.

Barbie Kyagulanyi, the wife of NUP Presidential candidate who hails from the region introduced her husband officially to the Ankole people while speaking in their mother language and then unveiled his manifesto to the public.

‘The Strength of a nation lies in leaders who focus on the next generation of leaders and not those who focus on the next elections’

He further said that President Museveni has lied to Ugandans for many years by not fulfilling what he writes in his manifestos.

‘Gen. Museveni lied to our children by promising them free sanitary pads which have never been seen to date and his wife who doubles as the Minister of Education said that there was no money yet the same government has got billions of shillings to bribe MPs to pass bad laws in parliament, buy tear gas, expensive trips abroad, hire mercenaries, huge salaries among others’

After the launch of the Manifesto, Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi thanked his supporters for standing with him and asked them to continue being part of the struggle. He then left with his entourage to mark the end of the exercise.
