Commander of Operation Safe Haven, Major-General, Chukuwmwka Okonkwo Monday commissioned series of Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) project across various communities in southern part of Kaduna State, Nigeria on behalf of Defence Headquarter of Operation Safe Haven.
Operation Safe Haven was set up to maintain peace in Plateau State, with its operational command in Jos. The task force is charged with the responsibility of securing lives and properties in Plateau, Bauchi and part of southern Kaduna.
Base on Major General Okonkwo, there the need for civil-military relations that will enhance and help in the fight against insecurity in our nation. He called on the communities to see these projects as part of the social cooperate responsibility in terms of societal development from the military.
Among the project that were commissioned are, a borehole in Angwan Rana Community, and solar power light panels at Sabon Kaura Primary Health Care Centre, all in Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State; while Boto Community inZango-Kataf Local Government Area a borehole was commissioned.
Others are; an administrative block at Government Secondary School, GidanWayya, and a borehole at Zipak community all in Jama’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Traditional rulers present thanked the military for their love and support for the development of their communities. They said that the project shows that the military is not only meant to protect lives and properties but also to ensure development reaches the common man.
They also, thank the military for the endless sacrifices to see that the country is protected from all forms of forces that tries to destroy the peaceful co-existence enjoyed. They hope that institutions and political class will always find a way to bring development to the grassroots.
