BREAKING NEWS: Bobi Wine Nominated to Run For Ugandan Presidency


Ugandan Presidential Hopeful Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine has been nominated for the Ugandan Presidential Elections 2021.

Bobi Wine set off from his home in Magere accompanied by his wife Barbie Kyagulanyi at 8.45 am escorted by the Uganda Police all the way to the nomination center at Kyambogo University.

However, the journey was not a smooth one because thousands of his fans crowded on the road and battled with the police and the army.

When Bobi Wine’s convoy reached Ntinda trading center, his car got a puncture and was quickly fixed by his supporters and he continued with his journey.

Hon. Kyagulanyi finally arrived at Kyambogo University at 10.35 am for his nomination and went to the Electoral Commission tent where he presented his credentials. His Vice President Nubian Li and Barbie Kyagulanyi his wife were the proposer and seconder respectively.

He was accompanied by Hon. Francis Zaake, Joel Senyonyi the NUP Spokesperson, Hon. Asuman Basalirwa, NUP lawyer Lewis Rubongoya, Nubian Li, Hon. Allan Sewanyana among others.

The EC read to him the Guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures which should be followed by all candidates contesting for any political office in the forthcoming elections.

After scrutinizing his credentials and going through the entire process, the EC Chairman Justice Simon Byamukama declared Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi as a candidate.

‘I Justice Byabakama Mugenyi Simon, being the returning officer for the nomination of Presidential Candidates hereby declare that Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu a duly nominated candidate in respect of the Presidential elections 2021 having fulfilled the nomination requirements under the Presidential Elections Act 2005 as amended’

Justice Byabakama advised Bobi Wine to avoid waiving to supporters on top of his car because it defies the Standard Operating Procedures set by the EC and Government to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

After the declaration, Candidate Robert Kyagulanyi and his excited team left the venue and went to address the press.

‘What we are witnessing right now is a launch of a very critical phase in our struggle to liberate ourselves from a dictatorship which has crippled our country for almost four decades. A dictatorship that has strangled our economy’ said Candidate Robert Kyagulanyi

After the press conference, Bobi Wine left to go and prepare for his manifesto launch scheduled for later in the day.
