An Anti-Corruption body in Zimbabwe has arrested a top police officer in the Asset Recovery and Forfeiture Unit for criminal abuse of office.
This was announced Wednesday morning by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC).
“ZACC has arrested Chief Sup Josephat Mutipforo the ZRP Head of Asset Recovery and Forfeiture Unit. He is being charged with criminal abuse of duty as a public officer. He is appearing in court today at the Harare Magistrates court,” said ZACC.
Charges against the top cop are not yet clear but he becomes the third officer to be arrested by the anti-graft body since September.
Deputy Director for Criminal Investigation Department’s Commercial Crimes Unit Assistant Commissioner Obeylaw Moyo has since been arrested in connection of receiving residential stands in a US$1 million scam.
Another one Director in the CID Department Commissioner Chrispen Chinembiri was also arrested for allegations of accepting protection money from drug dealers and illegal gold dealers.
