MDC Alliance Vice Chairman Job Sikhala has sensationally castigated President Emmerson Mnangagwa claiming that the Zanu PF leader was not popular and “cannot even be voted by a donkey.”
Speaking at the burial of MDC Alliance official, Annah Muyambo who died last week after failing to recover from a stroke developed soon after being recalled by MDC-T leader Thokozani Khupe, Sikhala expressed worry that the main opposition was not in power yet it was the “most popular brand in the political matrix of this country.”
Sikhala urged MDC Alliance leadership to consider other strategies and ensure that they control the power before many of their members die.
“We have lost many members of our party before arriving in Canaan. Many people have died.
“All of us cannot perish before reaching destiny. Destiny is coming. Yesterday when I was driving from Parliament, I was thinking and what I have noticed President is that popularity is not the one that brings people to control power.
“Mugabe was the most unpopular leader in the history of mankind and Morgan Tsvangirai since the advent of politics was the most popular leader in the whole world but he died before leading this country.
“We have 2,6 million votes meaning, our President and the party are the most popular brand in the political matrix of this country but we are not in power.
“Mnangagwa cannot even be voted by a donkey, but he is in power. Thokozani Khupe, even donkeys and reptiles do not want to see her, but she is in power.
“So power is being controlled by the unpopular, when popular one is out,” Sikhala said.
Muyambo was recalled from Parliament in June by Khupe together with other MPs who were accused of supporting main opposition MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa.
The late former MDC Alliance MP died after failing to recover from a stroke developed soon after being recalled by the MDC-T.
Speaking at the same funeral, Chamisa said the main opposition MDC Alliance was neither concerned with parliamentary seats nor money.
