The popular Nigerian music legend, Femi Kuti has finally joined the ongoing #EndSARS protest, calling on the end to the brutality of the Special Anti-Robbery squad. Femi is the son of the Afrobeat legend, Fela Kuti, and a grandchild to the political campaigner, women’s Rights Activist Fumilayo RansomeKuti.
Despite all efforts by the government to see that the aspiration of the people is met in order to end the street protest, yet, protesters won’t give up. They are still making more demands on the government aside from the disbandment of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad.
Some of the demands are the total disbandment of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad. Totalreform of the Nigeria Police system. Demanding the release of all protesters arrested. Forensic investigation and prosecution of all those involved in the death of loved ones. And compensation to the family who lost their loved ones.
Meanwhile, the President has already expressed his feelings over the outcry of Nigerians. He assures them of efforts to see that they are given what they are demanding, which started with the disbandment of SARS, and hope that other reforms will take place, as this is also one among other things his administration is working towards.
